In a co-produced one-hour special with WAMU and Hola Cultura, WAMU/DCist's Jacob Fenton and Hola Cultura's Marcelo Jauregui-Volpe's audio investigation into heat disparity exposed how discriminatory housing policies of the past continue to affect the lives of resident today — including the lack of green space in some DC neighborhoods. The special featured excerpts from Hola Cultura's podcast "The Climate Divide" which breaks down how low-income residents and communities of color are disproportionately exposed to environmental hazards.

In 2023, this co-produced special won the Edward R. Murrow Prize in the News Documentary category for the large market radio division.
